Matching Gift Disclosure Statement  

Project Compassion 2026 Online Fundraising Matched Giving 

Matched giving is a form of fundraising in which one or more lead donors match the donations of others by donating an equal or predetermined amount. Matched giving involves Caritas Australia securing a lead donation amount(s) (matching gift) from a pledging donor or donors for a fundraising campaign and promoting to the community or group of potential supporters that their donation in response to the campaign will be matched to the value of the lead donation amount. This value is our matched giving appeal target. Caritas Australia is committed to communicating transparently and responsibly throughout this process.  

Project Compassion 2026 Online Fundraising Matched Giving Campaign Target: $100,000  

This will consist of $50,000 of matching/lead gifts and $50,000 of matched gifts in response to the campaign.  

Only individual donations are eligible to be matched. Dollar Match Day is not intended for the banking of funds already collected offline – for example, proceeds from a bake sale or other cash collection – even if those funds are deposited on the day. Funds raised offline and paid in on Dollar Match Day will not be matched.  

Donations will be matched up to $1,000 per individual donation – individual donations over $1,000 will not be matched.  

Only donations to online fundraising page are eligible to be matched.  

Project Compassion 2026 Online Fundraising Matched Giving Timeline:  

Start Date: 4 March 2026, 10.00 AM AEDT  

End Date: 5 March 2026, 10.00 AM AEDT  

Once the campaign target is achieved this will be clearly communicated via email to all fundraising page owners. It will also be communicated on the appeal form that donations will no longer be matched once the campaign target is achieved and/or the deadline date of 5 March 2026 is reached.  

If the campaign target is not achieved, the campaign will be extended at Caritas Australia’s discretion. 

All lead donations will remain anonymous unless indicated by the lead donor that public acknowledgement is approved.
