The BIG Water Walk

This Lent, we’re raising funds to empower people living in poverty around the world.

Every day, millions of people around the world face unimaginable challenges just to access basic essentials – like clean water, healthcare and safe shelter. Project Compassion helps to change that, by providing critical resources and opportunities for people to reclaim their lives with dignity, resilience and hope.

Project Compassion 2026 shares the story of 13-year-old Sisilia from northern Tanzania. She used to walk long, dangerous distances to collect dirty water, often making her sick and causing her to miss out on school. Thanks to the support of Caritas Australia’s partners, Sisilia’s village and school now have clean water taps, making it quick and safe for her and her family and peers to access water. She can focus on her studies, stay healthy, and help her community maintain good hygiene. Your support by sponsoring our school through The BIG Water Walk helps children like Sisilia access clean water, stay healthy, and continue their education — giving them the chance to build a brighter future.
