IN SOLIDARITY - compassion in action
Every day, 292 million people around the world walk more than 30 minutes just to collect water. This Lent, through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, I’ll be walking in solidarity with them.
As the Diocesan Director for Caritas Australia in the Archdiocese of Hobart, I have the privilege of sharing the stories of the communities Caritas works alongside. I’ll be lacing up my shoes and taking part in The Long Walk for Water — a simple act that points to a much bigger reality. Access to safe, clean water changes everything: health, education, dignity, opportunity.
Each step I take is a reminder that we belong to one human family. And each donation helps make practical, lasting change in communities that should not have to struggle for something so basic.
I invite you to walk with me in spirit this Lent and if you are able, please make a donation, no matter how small. Together, we can Unite Against Poverty and help ensure no one is left behind.

walk 20, day 21, Tuesday, 10 March
'Lower' Lutana. While this was mainly along the streets near my home, I also walked along the newly landscaped New Town Rivulet, which empties into New Town Bay. The area is now attracting a variety of birdlife.
